ENVISION:YOU RECEIVES GRANT FOR PEER SUPPORT PROGRAMBy Alice RobertsEnvision:You, the Colorado-based initiative focused on supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, has been awarded a $50,000 grant from The Colorado Health Foundation. The grant will be directed towards creating a peer support program for those who identify as LGBTQ+ and live in rural areas across Colorado. “Individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community often feel invisible in rural areas where there is a major lack of culturally relevant behavioral health services. Peer support is a proven protective factor that will improve mental health outcomes and reduce the risk of suicide for LGBTQ+ individuals living in rural communities,” says Steven Haden, CEO and co-founder of Envision:You.
